Album covers of Eastern Europe 70s pop stars
Somewhere in Eastern-Europe back in 1970’s, These were the actual album record covers of Pop stars. I’m not sure how “Good was it” for their album sales / Charts.
Some of the guys back then, had their own unique styles, one of them over 60 years old with “I am on top the world” attitude riding a satellite in space.”Milance” is a big Casanova , a lady killer with Prince wannabe look. Then we found out that George Michael stole outlook image from big star “Zlatko” , “Bajo” with stylish suit and hair and old “Tozovac” raiding a cannon in very funny FAIL position. Now I am thinking that Bajo and Saveta, lady from first picure, were acctualy dating back then. You could buy as many albums as you wanted with a cash advance.

They certainly didn’t have Photoshop back then.
Jun 1, 2009These are ugly people.
Jun 1, 2009The comment about these people being ugly.Shows how much our society rates people on how they look, rather than on their talents.
Jun 2, 2009Oh, that’s right. I forgot that you have been brainwashed by the media to believe that you have to look HAWT to sing well.
Jun 2, 2009you are just assuming these people are talented… I would wager you’ve never listened to them lol
Jun 2, 2009You do realize that all these come from *one* country and that Eastern Europe is hugely diverse, without even accounting for the Russians … I’m Romanian and my dad had a large collection of vinyl records (foreign and indigenous) and some covers did look pretty ridiculous (e.g.: this German Bee Gees wannabes pop into my head
, but none were this crazy. I bet that if I dig a little I’ll find plenty of similar covers from the U.S.
Jun 2, 2009You guessed right. there are a bazillion websites about “worst album covers ever” and most are from the US. Bad 70s album covers affected every region of the world, even the greatest countries like the USA and Russia.
Jun 2, 2009The comment about these people being ugly.Shows how much our society rates people on how they look, rather than on their talents.
OH yeah, that’s right, being a good singer makes you infinitely attractive.
Jun 2, 2009“The comment about these people being ugly.Shows how much our society rates people on how they look, rather than on their talents.”
i would change “talents” for “hability to make glorious album covers”. BTW, i LOVE the comunists covers. And i mean LOVE.
Jun 2, 2009It’s just that styles, taste, and fashion change over time. Plenty ’70s album covers look ridiculous no matter where they are from. So do the clothes, films, and interior design. No harm in laughing at the past, we will be the joke in 30 years.
Jun 2, 2009In Soviet Russia, photo shops you.
Jun 2, 2009This former Yugoslavian “performers” were never considered as pop stars… It is more like low quality country music stars that performed in front of illiterate and totally drunk audience!!! And yea, Tozovac rules, hic !!!!
Jun 2, 2009Boy I sure am sick of all this anti-U.S. sentiment on sites like these. So sorry for where I was born and what I am a part of.
On that note, I have never eaten a TV dinner and don’t currently own a TV “set” (even though no one has called it that since 1960)
I have had a passport since I was eight years old and have traveled to 6 continents where I have made dozens of very interesting friends.
What have you done?
Jun 2, 2009These US guys think they know all
but when you ask them something on their streets it comes up they are very stupid.
europeans are the best!
greetings from france.
Jun 2, 2009Sad sad sad people base talent on looks. world YOU fail
Jun 3, 2009If there is something I like more than a good album, it’s hairy legs to share it with.
Jun 3, 2009Oh Saveta.
Talent is based on looks. For instance, Britney Spears can’t sing a good note to save her life and she makes million upon millions. Then look at Susan Boyle, she lost due to being ugly, I think, and now she’s gonna have to be happy being a viral wannabe and making 10 pounds an hour at her local hamburger joint but oh she can sing good!
Jun 3, 2009FYI
This is not eastern Europe, this is from Yugoslavia, which is located in south-central Europe. Central or south, but not east ok. Also Yugoslavia was never party of the Eastern-block.
Jun 3, 2009Why are there flames?!
Jun 3, 2009OMG, this is so sad.
Jun 3, 2009Is that last one Edward James Olmos?
Jun 3, 2009I thought the Milance Show guy was Jamie Farr. Oh dear…
Jun 3, 2009I think #4 is a Steve Perry rare solo project album
Jun 4, 2009#1 looks like a fat Paul McCartney
Jun 4, 2009Why do you all argue about asthetic and musical talents when these pictures are clearly HILARIOUS?
Jun 5, 2009Um lighten up people… there is no denying that these covers are hilarious no matter where they come from, could you just imagine if someone did a shoot without shaving these days?
Jun 5, 2009The first picture lady has a lot of hair on her legs.
Jun 5, 2009When I stumbled on this site I almost gave it a thumbs down until I saw the comments…
Jun 5, 2009That’s Europe for you, I’ll take America any day
Jun 6, 2009Bajo = a young Roger Ebert
Jun 6, 2009That’s Europe for you???
Jun 6, 2009Have u actually ever been to Europe??
Yes. the album cover was such a time. future generations will laugh in our period, our album cover.
Jun 6, 2009Folks are saying that the album covers are unflattering, poorly designed and comically antiquated. they aren’t saying these folks cant sing. But if Luciano Pavarotti did an album cover where he wore lederhosen and posed on the hood of a car, he would come in for some chuckles at his expense no matter how he sounded. grow a sense of humor and quit trying to make folks feel bad for finding bad taste funny. As John waters pointed out, “Humor IS bad taste.”
Jun 6, 2009Apparently pearson that is before me is very bright in it’s nature. these singers were singing in yugoslavia, but they all are from serbia, and yugoslavia doesn’t exist any more.
a saw a billion sites about fail covers in america and they were even more funny but I can understand that it was a different time and like now every fool has an idea about world fame.
yugoslavia is not eastern europe
ok just to make this clear
firs of all it is sad that people from US think that Europe is a country [and no paris isn't the capital], and in my school i learned the federal structure of USA, and funcions of senat, parlament, president…
also fact that something is older than 100years doesn’t make it a landmark… My hose is 200years old, my surname is 600 years old-and you are sofisticatd one?
Europe has 350 places protected by UNESCO, USA 20. Isn’t that sad…
Yes, by charts our standars may be lower, but i go toa coffie out 3 times a day, go out to the life every night since I was 16 get trashed 2 times a week and by that I can drink a bottle of gin in one evening…
I’ll take europe any time
Jun 6, 2009Haha, this is quality.
Jun 6, 2009lol who cares they are hilarous
Jun 6, 2009why in the world…?
Jun 6, 2009I do not see the point in playing the “my homeland is better than your homeland” game. It’s one thing to have pride, but quite another to be hateful towards others.
Let’s all just work on being a little less ignorant and a lot more respectful.
Oh, and let’s all appreciate the tackiness of bad album covers- no matter the nation of origin, no matter the caliber of the talent, no matter the era. It’s funny.
Jun 7, 2009They just should not make it possible to comment on these pictures it always comes down to people with not to much self esteem trying to insult others.Just have a laugh at the pictures, thats what they are put online for!!
Jun 7, 2009Can’t wait to see how Susan Boyle’s first album cover will look. Initially made fun of, then glamorized, then institutionalized, now made fun of again. Poor gal.
Jun 7, 2009I would buy the first album, just for the picture on the cover.
Jun 7, 2009It’s necessarily that everyone is being ethnocentric, it’s simply that across cultural borders, what is considered beautiful (and even talented) changes greatly.
How do you know some of these covers weren’t created for humor?
Jun 8, 2009It’s very naive of you to place the last one, at least, as a fail. It is definitely intentional.
Good God, those legs are a patriotic tribute to stalins mustache, beautiful
Jun 8, 2009Haha well all of these “they’re ugly” comments are being made under the current perception of beauty that modern media has created
Jun 9, 2009Susan Boyle got as far as she did BECAUSE she is extremely ugly. the same goes for Paul Potts who won the original series of Britain’s got talent. talented but not outstandingly talented. if you are a mediocre singer then physical ugliness is your only hope of mainstream success. not a glowing review of our attitudes to fame but that’s how it is
Jun 9, 2009All we are saying…
is give peace a chance
“That’s Europe for you, I’ll take America any day”
that’s not cutting it. especially if you’re just assuming that’s what europe is like based on these (hilarious) album covers. europe is amazing, maybe you should go sometime and be less ignorant about the beauty of it all.
Jun 9, 2009No US singer ever stole an “Image” form these Serbian inbreeds… You guys are just way into your culture. I LOVE MODERN MEDIA BECAUSE IT MADE IT COOL FOR WOMEN TO SHAVE THEIR LEGS
Jun 9, 2009It’s not eastern europe… only Yugoslavia (now Croatia, Serbis, Montenegro…etc.).
Jun 10, 2009Would you all just shut up and enjoy the pictures! Who cares where it’s from or why these people are ugly or even if they are talented. This is hilarious. I don’t care what country it’s from, album covers from the 60’s – 80’s are ridiculous.
Jun 10, 2009Wow….so much debate over album covers…The 2nd album states that it’s a parody right on the cover…as for the rest, yes, bad taste, hillarious but it’s a fact that well educated, sober people, rarely if ever , listened to any of that music…and while it’s funny and sad at the same time..i still think it’s better than some of the modern stuff…skulls, guns, injuries…really they dont make great album covers..ut they sell!
Jun 10, 2009I was just thinking how beautiful and REAL the women look. Real women have curves. I shave myself, but I don’t see why a woman can’t make the choice not to and still be on an album cover.
Jun 11, 2009Yes, media has made it cool for us to shave our legs……….. It also made us obesess over the amount of calories we consume per hour
Jun 12, 2009Jason you make me sick, you think you’re better that us? Because all that stuff that makes you think your a (pseudo) intelligent man we all know it, but then again you’re stoopid. We’ll be laughin’ about our looks in 10 years from now and that doesn’t matter as long as we are happy about and not bitter and sour as you my unhappy man.
Jun 12, 2009Oh………. The problem is that we are unhappy now. What is the point in being happy and laughing ten years from now if we can’t do it now…. I think you are the unhappy one. But, worry not…. Everything will be okay- (maybe in ten years time?)
Jun 20, 2009I own every one dis rekord! Good stuff man!
Jun 20, 2009Ok, here are some translations from the writing on the album covers if anyone is interested, should make them even funnier
1. Saveta Jovanovic – the sideways white writing – “Lies, lies, all that is yours!”
Jun 23, 20094. Milance Show – the blue thing say “COME BACK NENA!” (that’s my mother’s name, you know)
5. Zlatko Pejakovic – the white word in the gold star says “Gold” and the sideways white writing says “These nights, one woman sleeps soundly”
6. Bajo i Orkestar Mirka Kodi?a – red sideways writing – “I am winged like a bird”
7. Tozovac (dude on tank) … I can’t really read it
The first I think is very freak,.very!
Jun 25, 2009In Mother Russia, album covers you!
Jun 26, 2009What a truly horrible collection = thanks!
Jul 6, 2009Eastern Europe is NOT Poland only, because all of these are Polish, that’s why they’re all ugly
Jul 6, 2009Those of you talking about ugliness should take a good hard look at all the grossly obese people around the good old US of A.
Jul 19, 2009Ugliness is part of your dialogue and fear of all things forreign.
At least these people are themsleves and not a product of Hollywoods plastic and silicone surgeons.
Take a long hard look at yourself. That's where the ugliness is.
The 2nd one… Jo-Jo Paradije…. Its Duffy isn’t it???
Jul 22, 2009That last album cover is just a big steaming pile of awesome.
Jul 24, 2009Haha, there are still some “artists” here in ex-Yugoslavia who have similar looking album covers, but most of them have the finances to pay some photoshop work
And about the translations – the last one bellow “jeremijino kolo” is: text read by B. Milenkovi? – The Gypsy
Aug 23, 2009US, come and feel a taste of Europe and you will see why is living worth.
Been in USA but… no thanks. That is not life.
And not to mention what is us government doing…
it makes me sick.
Go and live and fear now:)
Aug 27, 2009haha you stupid f’s are going crazy cause someone said someone else looks ugly?
seriously?
“hey, don’t be mean, they’re beautiful on the inside, know”
shut up. if you can’t tell yourself that one of these albums has an ugly person on it, than who is it that is actually missing the truth?
you’re ability to mask their appearance with the assumption that they sing well, is our ability to (just like you do every day, unless you’re blind) look at them and say they are ugly.
i need people telling me how to judge music art like i need a hole in the head.
Sep 4, 2009I think Saveta is kind of cute.
Sep 12, 2009What kind of leg is that??????
Oct 12, 2009You don’t need to be able to sing anymore to be famous….just look hot!
The software in studio and live will automatically keep your voice in tune….
Nov 8, 2009the first one has the hairiest legs…vaguely nauseating
Nov 30, 2009This might sound impossible, but the ridding cannon guy made lots of money back then and the guy with white suit and black hat also had successful career. Actually all of them had very successful careers 35 years ago and I know this all sound ridiculous but it’s true. The fact is back then you didn’t need good look just to be famous, they are all very talented people, but obviously theirs talents didn’t include fashion
Dec 3, 2009first album 3 rupels…is very good deal!
Jan 8, 2010There are some things that you just can't unsee…
