Before you decide to get a tattoo take a good look at what every location at your body says about your personality. That tattoo will be there forever, so think carefully through before you take this big step.
Be also sure that the tattoo is the right one for you, and what it will say about you, whether it is of Asian character, barbed wire, a band name, a sports team, video game based tattoo, or something else.

Pretty funny, except I have a job working at a bank ánd I pay taxes yet I have a lowerarm tattoo.
This is so stupid, how does a lower arm tatty make you not have a good job?
I too have lower arm tattoos, and i have a very respectable job working for the state gov’t. However I must admit the chart is true. Tattoos are nothing more than a fad nowadays – they’re so goddamn lame it’s pathetic.
That chart is ridiculous. It makes no difference where the tattoo is located (except if it’s on your sack or an area of that sort, that’s just nasty). What you are getting tattooed on your body is what makes a difference.
What are you if you have a tattoo on one of the gray zones then? You’re good? This is stupid.

I dont feel like this chart is correct. I have one on my right shoulder blade that doesnt consist of a dragon or wings, nor is it faggy lame. I have 3 little footprints (staggered) with my 3 kids’ initials beside them. I’ve always thought about it this way, if I wouldnt show it to my grandparents, then I didnt need it. It’s all in how tasteful your tat is!
The creator of these images has the least unique personality of them all, they are a loner wuss who wouldn’t say half this stuff to anyone’s face.

I love tattoos, on other people. I had a teacher who was a Sailor and his tattoos bled all over his arms and they looked like one big ink blob on each arm. I know that tattoos have made bold advancements with the quality of inks but after looking at his arms for a couple of years, I came to the decision that they are great, just on other folks.
Okay, for starters some of us do NOT give in to a drink to get in our pants because of a lower back tat rofl.
I kind of have to agree with the person who said that these are all pretty lame and fake, but slightly funny. One size doesn’t fit all!
i have a tattoo on my wrist that goes all the way around and i have a really good job and in graduate school.

Funny! I have a head tat, my back is covered, my stomach, and several on my arms. None of these coincide with the chart’s definitions. Still pretty funny, because I know a lot of people that fit them well.
Ha. I love this. It is so true. When I was reading off the location guide I could think of each person that had a tattoo there that fit the description perfectly!!! I wanted a tattoo on my shoulder, but after reading this, I think I change my mind.
But also I need to say, that even though I know people who fit the descriptions. I also know that this is just silly stuff. My dad was is an old Navy man, and he has old navy tattoos , several are on both is arms. He has the pup from the Cracker Jack box. another that say Mother. An Anchor. and several more I can’t think of. But my father is a very decent man. He worked hard all those years to take care of my mother and us kids. So of course, everybody is a unique person, and a tattoo does not make a person’s character.
I have Tattoos on most areas of my body and one of them is a video game tattoo, and yet I probably have a better job, and a much more independent personality than the OP. This chart may be true 10% of the time at best.
I am tattooed everywhere except my face, neck, hands, feet, groin area and stomach. It is one large cohesive piece of work that I have worked on for years and I have a respectable job and have never been to prison. This post is nothing more than stereotypical prejudice, let’s say all blacks are criminals and all Asians look the same while we’re here eh?

One thing we can all learn from this…PEOPLE WITH TATS HAVE NO SENSE OF HUMOR WHEN IT COMES TO TATS, and/or, THEY ARE VERY INSECURE ABOUT THEIR CHOICE TO MUTILATE THEIR SKIN.
This chart is very subjective to the culture of the country you live in to be honest. I’m from NZ where the traditional Maori Ta Moko (Tattoo’s) are predominantly on the forearms, face, neck & legs. It is widely accepted as the norm and quite a few government officials have the Facial tattoo. Mind you we also have a pot smoking dreadlocked hippy MP so we aren’t the most uptight of countrys.
Hilarious; mostly accurate, except 1) one of the sweetest teachers from my high school got a tattoo on her ring finger in memory of her husband, who died of an aneurysm; and 2) one of my summer coworkers has a Confederate flag tattoo in the “socially acceptable” zone.

As someone who lives in Taiwan and does speak Chinese (as well as reads it and writes it), I beg to differ that getting a Chinese tat is lame in my case because I know exactly what it means.
I have considered getting the word for love – ?(‘ai’ if you can’t see the character) on my belly because I spent so long hating my shape and especially my stomach and now have learned to love myself no matter what shape I might be in.
My sister has a beautiful tattoo of a Japanese koi that wraps around her foot and ankle, my friends have mathematical symbols on their wrists, and of course there are the mastectomy tattoos women get after surgery to decorate where they used to have breasts.
Tramp stamps have a strong tendency to be just that, but I don’t find most of the other stereotypes to be justified.

Any decorative non-cultural/penal tattoo- look how different and unconventional/non-conformist I am- just like everybody else.
I make the exception for several graphic artists I know who tattoo themselves for art.
Tattoos on women- tramps and an easy fuck after three strong drinks max.
Caucasian with Hindu/Chinese/Japanese character- whitey with no clues but look how cosmopolitan I am.
Video games and stars- rave meth/ecstasy addict- professionally unemployed, constantly attempting gainful employment on performing arts degree.
Sports team- loser and on welfare.
Tattoo to affirm self- everyone look how good I am/insecure I was being fat/ugly.
Tattoos on knuckles- run away.
Blurred mainly blue tattoos- swallows, swifts, tears, “88″ old school convict and or ruffian.
Tattoo on inner lips- sado-masochistic and or a real skin-head who appears part-way normal= my sisters boyfriend in prison (UK) on assault charges.
This is sorta funny, yet sad that people will believe the stereotype. I love my tattoos, and have only received positive feedback.

I have a tattoo on my right shoulder blade. It was designed for me as a memorial when my two year old daughter was murdered. The design is of a butterfly with wings that culminate in flames, a symbol of a life that ended too soon. Faggy lameness? I think not.
Sounds like OP just doesn’t like tattoos in general, and thus feels they must belittle everything about them.
I think people forget that this is not meant to be absolute truth. It’s a satiric social commentary. A joke. It makes a sweeping generalization in the name of humour. Just like a dumb blonde joke. So chuckle and move on.

Having my ENTIRE back covered, with (I’m a Scorpio) fish and mermaids to fit my “WATER” sign, and my chest 70% covered with “dragon” theme, tops of my legs, left arm total, right arm 50% this REALLY caught my attention, and well, I guess I fall into pretty much ALL of the colours on your guide, shall print it off and show ALL my friends at the local pub right pronto LOL!!!!! People get over it it’s a joke. I have 5 tats and I laughed when I read it. Even at the faggy lameness one. I have one on each shoulder blade one is my daughters feet n name I got it after she passed. So obviously mine mean something. YET I still laugh. Get over it.
I really love comments section. The chart doesn’t offend me, as it’s just a joke that exaggerates stereotypes, and most people tend to get really shitty tattoos anyway. Some of the comments, however, are teeming with ignorance, especially people like Mr Money Penny.

I’m a college student studying geology, working towards my PhD, so I could work as a paleontologist, but I suppose I’m a “rave meth/ecstasy addict” who is “professionally unemployed, constantly attempting gainful employment on performing arts degree” because I have a video game tattoo. Also, since I’m a woman with tattoos, I must be a “tramp and an easy fuck after three strong drinks max,” even though I’m in a long-term committed relationship, and I rarely drink. Hm.. I never knew that about myself!

It’s SUPPOSED to be about the stereotypes. It’s a joke. Stereotypes aren’t meant to describe 100%, but generally describe the perception most people have of the groups mentioned. One thing with tattoos, though, once upon a time, they used to be rebellious, now they are so common that it’s merely an accessory. If you have a tat that typically fits a certain stereotype but you don’t, then the tattoo is probably culturally diluted by now. Also, chances are you actually DO meet the stereotype and don’t recognize it or won’t admit it, or you didn’t understand the stereotype when you got the tattoo and you’ve contributed to diluting the tattoo culture. For example, a tear drop tattoo. It used to mean you killed someone. Now it means whatever you want it to mean, like you are mourning a loved one. Also, people are taking it too seriously. If you have sleeve tattoos, you probably love them and have a decent job that does pay taxes, but you probably aren’t an insurance adjuster or other so-called “professional” business type, either (or you wear long sleeve shirts to cover). And he wasn’t talking about a discreet arm tattoo.
I’m also amused by the people who don’t recognize themselves when they fit the stereotype exactly (which isn’t meant to be negative, anyway). Yeah, that butterfly with flamey wings probably does mean a great deal to you symbolically. However, to other people (without the backstory) it is pretty faggy. Most of those dragons and pegasus horses do mean something to the wearer.
I don’t believe in those meanings. I do have a tattoo on my nape and on my left shoulder blade. Don’t think those are true. LOL. Made ups.

If you’re too sensitive to this, then it is quite obvious you’re insecure about yourself – there are people who fit this chart, and others who don’t.
As an employer, I wouldn’t hire someone with tats that are exposed out of the typical ‘office uniform’ – It doesn’t look professional to any clients > they won’t take you seriously. If it doesn’t show, who cares. Also:
I’ve met about 8 girls with lower back tats, and yes, they’re ‘easier’ than ‘non-decorative’ girls, but that doesn’t mean all girls with lower back tats are ‘easy’.

This is more true then it should be. It’s obviously not going to fit everyone, and even some of the people it DOES fit won’t admit it. Come on, no one wants to be a stereo-type even when they are.
I have a couple of tattoos. One on the boob (just because I wanted one) and one on my right shoulder blade/back and not wings or a dragon either, it’s actually Harley Quinn. I decided to get things that I like and mean something to me. One of my friends tends to get money and decides she wants a tattoo and then at the parlor tries to figure out what she wants. Drives me nuts. I could never get a tattoo that way. I usually get the idea that I might want one and if the idea sticks around in my head long enough, I save up the money and get it. Then I show it off like mad for the next month or two… and then eventually forget I even have it until people start talking about their tats.

Forearm and hand tattoos…….. it’s a generalisation….. face it…. you have one here the chance of you even GETTING a job will be diminished whether you like it or not, or right or wrong.

Nobody’s easily offended…but this post is generally pretty offensive. Its all ridiculously negative and some of it very much untrue. I’m 19 with lotus flowers up my spine, and they’re a religious tattoo. My dad has 2 tattoos on one arm and 1 on the other, a fourth on his back, and he’s about to graduate from his second stint at college as a licensed massage therapist! My mom has one of my name on her breast and one of my brother’s on her back. None of these stereotypes even begin to fit my family, and it bothers me that other types of people are not included. As far as jobs, many jobs accept tattoos now, given that they are tasteful, and more are beginning to accept appropriate body decorations. This post is over-exaggerated(sp?) and doesn’t take into account the other side of things. What happens if someone young or gullible or legitimately attempting to learn comes here and sees this? Think about these things…everyone needs to be taken into account. Also: its a matter of opinion. If I choose to feel insulted about this, then leave me be. It is NOT your place to tell me how to feel about something.
I’m not saying, by the way, that there aren’t people who perfectly fit these stereotypes…I’m merely stating that thats not all there is, and some people can get the wrong idea.

Its interesting to see that most of the people on here disputing the validity of this chart are young people who have not yet realized what their tattoos will do to their respectability and employability when they get old enough to have a real job. Im not saying that its not possible, but its deffinetly unlikely that anyone with hand/lower arm/face/neck tattoos are going to be able to hold a respectable job. You just wont be taken seriously. I am the proud owner of almost 200 tattoos, but when I am dressed in professional clothing, you cannot see any of them. I would not hire someone to work in my office who had these sort of tattoos. Its just unacceptable. I know that you will get all butt hurt about these comments and start defending your ridiculous decision to tattoo your forehead or some other ludacris place on your body, but the reality is professionals dont have body art showing. Tattoo all you want, but remember: Grown ups dont work at Taco Bell, and with that stupid neck tattoo, thats the best you can hope for.
