osaka-stadium
A lot of stadiums around the world have spectacular designs, like the new World Cup 2010 stadiums in South Africa. Stadiums give pride to the countries where they are located. Yet there are some stadiums where architects have failed and there are some very clever adaptations to the surrounding landscape and that makes them kinda weird.

We don’t have additional info about this pitch and is there any football matches going on on this field, but for sure it is fun for drivers on this road. So, go on. Hop on a plane and visit this field. Plenty of cheap flights for you to choose from. You’ve got to see this and all the stadiums featured. They’re as odd as can be.

  4. Sasha

I’m from Ukraine and we do have this weird stad there. But the point is that in Ukraine gravity is forbidden by state law so we don’t have it and can play on any angle we want. It doesn’t affect us at all :) ))

  5. Imotski is fabulous! Just been there!

  6. Burba

ukrainian field was created for advertising of euro2012, not for playing

  7. The stadium in Austria isn’t weird at all… it looks like a typical small football field, fail.

  8. Carlos

The authors opinion of weird seems to be that the stadium has rocks next to it or has ugly seats.

Some of these were interesting but some were just incredible engineering. It would probably be very difficult to get all the seats to stay permanently on a hill without concrete or to build on top of loose boulders.

  9. SimpleChristmasGift

The football field in Ukraine is wins it for me. You have to be more than a football fanatic to play here. Is it even real?

  10. Stella

I find it incredibly intriguing that there’s a dense, metropolitan city with skyscrapers on an island halfway to Iceland. Plus, it’s a fishing town, maybe it’s the real life cloudy with a chance of meatballs island…

  11. Miguel

Here in Portugal we find tha Braga stadium weird too :D

  12. s4nk4i

    nice one..

i like the braga stadium on portugal..

  14. Manuella

Wow, this is absolutely crazy! Especially I love first and last one, in Ukraina!

  15. I’ve been in Imotski 3 times. The stadium and the blue lake are beautiful.

  16. Mate, I'm from Portugal, and the Braga stadium is one of the nicest stadiums I've ever been! You find it weird because you just looked at the photos that show the rock quarry! If you "zoom out" a little bit you would see how striking it is.

  17. Carlos

really like this beautiful stadium I have never seen before,
what Marakana, Wembley, Alianza arena or what ever,
    imotski their worlds away

  18. Imotski – Gospin Dolac!! Definetly most beautiful one, been there a year ago, it lies beneath huge cliff from 2 sides, from 3rd side is old fortification and to reach it by car you need to have 4×4

  19. Samuel

The Singapore stadium is Primarily for swimming, the soccer field was a temporary one that is bought out for matches / concerts etc. (size varies depending on what they need)

  20. Christopher

believe it or not – the mentioned stadium in Vienna was once Europe’s biggest Football venue, with a capacity of approx. 80.000 spectators; once even nearly 90.000 were counted during a match between Austria and Hungary (very strong teams in the 1920s).

  21. Garcia

The Eco Stadium in Curitiba, Brazil is nice but only if its not raining!! There`s mud everywhere! =/

  22. ECO-STADIUM! I’VE BEEN THERE! HAHAHAHA

  23. Sophie

  28. That IMOTSKI is weird by itself. Weird people-weird stadium.

  29. If I turn my head to the left I can see the Singapore football field. It was built as a temporary field for the 1st Formula One race but they decided to keep it.

  30. Diego

    South African Stadium is unbelieveble!!

  31. Soccer

they are nice SOCCER stadiums, all you damn europeans need to adjust and accept that what you call football is not actually, and start happily accepting American terminology for its obvious superiority.

  32. Oliver

The second picture from the Austrians stadium isn’t the “Hohe Warte”. From the highest seats you have a wonderful overview of some parts of Vienna.

In former days about 90.000 people came to this stadium to see the Austrian national-soccer-team. Also boxing-matches were staged in this stadium.

  33. Green

I think the Eco-Stadium would be great to visit, love the set-up of the seats etc.

That could mean no sore feet walking on concrete getting to and from your seat.

  34. That stadium in Antwerp, is more ugly then a Maksimir stadium in Croatia. Poor people from Belgium =))

  35. angel branley

realy werd but i liked the one that was near the water

  36. I agree-Imotski:))

  37. Tiger Stadium, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge Louisiana, USA.

There are dormitories built into the stadium. They're no longer in use, but it's a funny story as to how they wound up there. . .

Governor Huey P. Long wanted funds from the sate Congress to build a new stadium at LSU. Unfortunately, they wouldn't allow it. So instead, he got the funds for dormitories, and just so happened to build them with enough space in the middle for a football stadium. You can still see the windows to the dorms, and I think the concessions folk still use a few of the bigger ones as offices.

  38. The one by the water gets my vote. Softer landing after the enevitable earthquake !

  39. how can you find that park in portugal not beautiful? the rocks are much more visually pleasing than some more seats, who wants to look at seats when theyre playing futbol?

  40. Schatten

The first picture of the Vienna, Austria stadium is not the mentioned ground. The picture is from Switzerland (CENTRO SPORTIVO VALLONE) in Biasca.

How do I know? I was at the game and I am on the picture :)

    More pics of this ground:

  52. Nathaniel Whitfield

    Nippon wins.

  53. John C

That stadium in Singapore is clearly photoshop-faked. The floating platform is usually used for National Day Parades, concert performances, etc. How do I know? Cos I live in Singapore and I don’t remember ever hearing of a football match being played there.
