Finger Monkeys – Too Small To Be Real

Ever held a finger monkey before?  What’s a finger monkey, you ask. Well, believe it or not, it’s a monkey the size of a human finger. They got their name because of their size and the fact that they cling to your fingers when you try to hold them. The planet’s smallest living primate, finger monkeys are also known as pocket monkeys or tiny lions.

Indigenous to the rain forests of Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia (where they possibly export drugs to other finger monkeys), the common finger monkey can grow up to 14 inches. Don’t let a finger monkey’s looks fool you. Its claws are extremely sharp, and when a provoked, these pygmy marmosets can wreak havoc like you’ve never seen.

"I'm clinging for dear life!"

"It turns out this rug is as soft as advertised. Testing complete."

"I was in the middle of a goddamn nap, and you just had to wake me! Why!"

"I'm fascinated by that cat in the corner. He thinks he can outwit me. Oh, how little he knows."

"This is like an amusement park ride from hell."

"I'm old man finger monkey magoo, and my arm and hand are freakishly human. That said, I'm extremely far to the right and don't believe in evolution. Other finger monkeys have ostracized me."

"I just learned that I can keep my balance in any situation. Oh hell yea! I'm gonna bring home the gold in the finger monkey Olympic games. Or not, because I refuse to take finger monkey steroids, but all things being equal, I would win."

"Wait, who thought this would be a good idea again?"

"I'm number 1! Number 1!"

"I'm still number 1."

"Getting sleepy. Probably because I'm bored. I haven't been this bored since I went to the finger monkey Phil Collins concert and he sang three different versions of 'Sussudio' back to back to back."

So, how bout it? Would you want a finger monkey as a pet? If you want information about how to obtain a finger monkey, send an email to fingermonkey33@gmail.com, and a finger monkey expert will help you find one.

    wowo..
    they are sooo cute.
    :)

  2. I hope you realize that quite a few of the species you showed aren’t the same. Do a bit more research next time, and don’t assume Google image results are always exactly what they say they are.

  3. alison

okay lizz your rude go somewhere else with your negativity its not welcome here or anywhere, you make the world a horrible place to live in. arrogant jerk.

  6. Foodie38384

In some parts of asia these are eaten. Usually they can have an earthy flavor and are served fried or grilled.

  7. I want one. How anyone could fry or grill one is beyond me. He would be trained to be my permanent monkey ring.

  8. @Lizz… there always has to be a Debbie Downer somewhere, WOMP WOMP WOMP!
I want one of these thanks!

  9. mariah

why are these illegal and where do you find them?

  10. Alison do you realise how stupid you sound by kicking off like that at someone simply making a valid point? Yeah these monkeys are cute regardless of which species they happen to be, but just because something is nice doesn’t make it accurate.

If you want to live in your fantasy world where facts are irrelevant then that’s fine, but don’t go outside your bubble o’ crazy and start shouting abuse at the people who actually like to be correct.

Who am I kidding this comment probably won’t even get posted. Even if it does you won’t read it. Whatever. It’s not like I’m coming back here again so it doesn’t matter to me. Maybe that’s another form of insanity, correcting people despite the fact that I know it will make no difference to either of us in the long run. Well from one bubble o’ crazy to another… you’re an idiot :P

  11. I’m with the other commenters on doing some research, but I also greatly appreciate pictures of tiny monkeys.

  12. These primates are quite unique.

  29. monkey Man

When fully grown these little darlings grow to 13 or better inches and can be quite vicious if threatened! Their claws are razor sharp and so are their teeth. They may also carry the aids virus! You might want to check the legality in your state before you purchase one! This is FYI.

  30. dorothypink

I really want one to, but I’d like to know how big they get. One of the comments said they could grow to 14 inches, in which case I DON”T want one. Anyone know anyone in South America who culd give us info on how to get one???

  31. We were shopping in Bangkok for some stuff for our birds and saw one in a cage in a shop. He came right to me when I put my hand to the cage and grabbed my finger and held it and was making little sounds. I did not ask how much but I have been thinking I will go back and see. I think the Birds we have would be very jealous if I brought some home though. They are even cuter up close.

  32. Tuner

They’re very cute. Now leave them alone!!!

  33. well, everyone has their own personal opinion so it really doesnt metter. so lets not judge others okay!? well i do think these things are way cute! and yeah i think it will be sweet to have one! and i bet who ever wrote this blog worked hard on getting the pics and doing some research so lets not be soo rude okay? lets try to be nice here. 39. Elizabeth

With all do respect I don’t think is correct to brag about ”how much we would love to have one!” Giving the animals traffickers ideas to take this idefensive animals away from their habitats.. Like they’ve had done with so many birds that are in risk of extinction… I love animals, and I wish there was more strict laws to protect them… =)

  40. This is the first time I have ever seen these itty bitty critters. They are just adorable. Wanting and/or having one might not be such a great idea. These little creatures are born in the wild, and should probably be left where they are. You wouldn’t want to have only 1, just like any other animal he/she would get lonely by themself. Wonderful pictures of some of the cutest animals I have seen in a long time.

  41. kiki.cutright

them lil’ finger monkeys are so adorable

  42. Kiker

I have one and it is only 9” now! it has been great!

  43. elana

where do you get finger monkeys because i went to get one

  44. Frank Pirro

Hmmm, I bet they’d be real tasty in a stew.

  45. These are adorable :) im getting one for my birthdayy! these are adorableeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee <3 and if u want just email the person, hope that anyone who wants one does :) btw-they r hard to take ar of.so dnt buy one if u dnt have lots of spare time

  46. MarlaToronto

I guess the 9″ ones are called arm monkeys. They had little tiny guys full grown at the Toronto Zoo as guests, in the late 80′s. The monkeys were called pygmy marmosets, and they did hold my finger, I poked my finger through a space in the wire caging, that is after making friendly eye contact. I will never forget it. But I don’t think people should be adopting them if it’s not legal, last thing we want is for them to become extinct. I hope people who do adopt them are making sure they have enough time to care for them, if you’re working full time, I think it isn’t fair to the finger monkey.

  47. kernel sanders

they taste like chicken!!! deep fried bones n all!! yummmmm

  48. Colombian

the monkeys are VERY cute :D

  49. Diana Reynolds

I always want a monkey for many years and when I saw finger monkey, my heart stop… I just fell in love, but of course, I heard it cost a lots of money, mostly rich people can afford it, and you had to be there and care for them 24/7, it also get very messy and sometime, they can hurt you if you upset or scare them. Too bad I want one, but I also know I will never own it because they deserve to be in the wild where they belong.

  50. Yeah, people think puppies and kittens are cute too, but after the newness wears off, they let them starve, don’t neuter or spay, and they produce the millions of animals put to sleep every year. Leave them in their homes!

  51. your boy

i want a finger monkey… give me one

  52. holly

i really want one they are so adorable! i think it would be amazing to have one

  53. naeem

    so nice

  54. SafeSAX

Sorry NIX I can’t think of anything more Debbie Downer than you wanting one. That kind of selfishness is why we have abused animals in this country and animals going extinct. The fact that we take beautiful birds and lock them in a cage for our own personal enjoyment is just shallow as it gets. Leave the animals where there at and they will be fine

  55. jessie

okay ppl who think its funny to say something about eating one of these she not be even allowed to owna child cause they are cute as hell to whats the diff??

  56. Those monkeys are cuter then any monkey I’ve seen before!:)

  57. Ok just stop arrgueing yes not all of these monkeys look the same and that’s because their all finger monkeys but different types of finger monkeys.

  58. Shelby

These are so cute!!! I had a spider monkey a long time ago and if their anything like those I’m sure it would be a fun pet.. =D

  59. Fake name

Hey people I ? these monkeys. They r sooooooooo CUTE. I want 1 so badly. Where can I get 1. And some1 said tat they r illegal but the article doesn’t say they r. 60. arrogantfingermonkey
