From time to time we here at This Blog Rules like to get a little surrealistic. Don’t you? You may remember our post about Josh Sommers’ insane photo montages, the contents of which I think we can all agree were very insane indeed. Now Italian artist Giuseppe Mastromatteo has taken surrealism to a whole new level in his project called “Indepensense”.

In the photos above and below, Mastromatteo makes it look like the body parts of his nude subjects have been melted together. It’s almost like the human body is transparent, causing noses, ears and mouths to peek through hands, arms and hair.

Mastromatteo writes about the arts, teaches advertising at several academic institutions, and works as an art director at the Triennale Museum of Milan. If you ever bump into him on the street, be sure to mention that you saw his art featured on TBR.

There is a lot of fancy and impressive graffiti art out there, so much that you can’t separate them anymore, but have you ever seen a 3D graffiti before? Italian street artist called Peeta has been decorating street walls since 1993, so lack of skills is obviously not an issue here. Now he is hand painting three dimensional graffiti art both indoor and outdoor.

It has the perfect shades and shadows, so perfect that you think you can touch it if you come any closer. To practice his 3D style skills he sculpts a lot to get in touch with new shapes, and when he paints on walls he get inspiration for his sculptures, so he says that it all goes around in a beneficial circle for him.

After seeing graffiti art like this I don’t get people who claim it’s ugly or that it ruins the boring concrete street walls. I think it, frankly is amazing, and continues to look amazing even in picture form. The same thing goes for these graffiti of famous movie roles by artist MTO.

To honor the biggest sport event of the year, ESPN TV collaborated with top-tier New York ad agency Wieden + Kennedy to give birth to 32 original soccer posters, one for each participating country at World Cup 2010 hosted in South Africa. Every poster symbolizes football and national tradition of the country.

These posters can be seen on such places as print ads, billboards, bus shelters, hand-painted murals on buildings, food trucks, a print insert, 3’x4’ art gallery pieces, art books, digital banners and rich media banners.

When food meets fashion it simply has to look tasty and amusing at the same time. The award-winning Italian photographer Fulvio Bonavia has made these tasteful creations for his latest book “A Matter of Taste”. Purses made out of raspberries, a belt of sardines, and chocolate earrings are just some of his eatable “haute couture” pieces.

Owning these clothes and jewelry you may never go hungry again. Speaking of food, in October 2009 the Sydney International Food Festival presented different flags made out of the several countries’s native food.

To experience the art of Felice Varini is something out of the ordinary and rather spectacular. At first it all looks like geometric and abstract shapes dancing over different landscapes and buildings, but if you move in a certain direction you will notice that the shapes are starting to make sense and suddenly they will flatten into colorful 2D shapes. The Swiss artist has managed to use large areas and geometry to make abstract art that almost looks photoshopped and unreal.

He thinks it’s great when people find that right spot to stand in so his artwork makes sense, but he doesn’t get disappointed if they don’t, because it’s still art no matter how you see it. Varini has done several installations like this and has put lot of effort and work to it so the results would look perfect.

In Berlin an artist has done a similar thing where you have to stand in a special angle by a fence to spot his art.
