Papercrafting taken to the next level

Artist Taras Lesko has always had a passion for creating something with his hands, and that shows in these paper craft models. Usually he uses motives like action figures and robots from Play Station games or anime movies, but that hasn’t stopped him from making other things out of paper, like his own self portrait.

One paper model consists of about several hundreds of individual parts, a couple of hundred letter sized paper sheets, and is over 3 feet tall. The project of creating the robot Freedom Gundam from a popular Japanese anime took Lesko about two months.

A graphic designer from Japan has also used paper to sci-fi models, but the best part is that you can be a part of it by downloading the patterns in PDFs and built one yourself.

For French Insurance company directed and animated this spot to address the desire to remain relevant in a constantly advancing world. The spot highlights the rapid evolution of mankind by showcasing an origami man transforming himself into some of the most important inventions throughout history.

Ending with a question mark and a resolve on the AXA logo. Origami (from oru meaning “folding”, and kami meaning “paper”) is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding, or even a real money.

Origami (from oru meaning “folding”, and kami meaning “paper”) is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. The goal of this art is to create a representation of an object using geometric folds and crease patterns preferably without the use of gluing or cutting the paper, and using only one piece of paper, or in this case, a single dollar bill, hence the name “money origami.” The creativity of the little critters that people have designed from their currency is astounding: the one-eyed crab below is even borderline frightening.

The most amazing thing about them is that they’re all made from real money. An exploration of our relationship with money and our response to it, in a political, moral and social sense, whilst also exploiting the physical beauty of the note. All the papers presented were conducted with notes of 1 or 2 dollars and any one of them is exceptional. So, the next time you’re bored and sitting on a subway train, take out your wallet let your imagination run wild.
