Who Is The Strongest Superhero?

July 21, 2016 By Toby Isaacson Leave a Comment

Who is the Strongest Superhero Ever?

This question has been haunting us for a long time. And, to be honest, it will probably continue to do so. The reason for this is simple: there are no statistical ways to form an answer to this question, so everything is mostly opinion-based and highly subjective. We all know how well that goes down on the Internet. Who is the strongest superhero? Subjectively, plenty of people.

Who Is The Strongest Superhero?

But the most important aspect most of us seem to be eluding is that there is no way to properly analyze all of the known superheroes and consider it fair to compare them. When we ask “who is the strongest superhero,” this can refer to so many things. Which one is most likely to outlive them all? Who has the most impressive set of skills? Who has the biggest physical strength?

With all of these factors being taken into consideration, we’ve tried to line up a few possible contenders.

As a conclusion, it’s hard to determine one winner. Traditionally, Superman would be the best pick because he manages to balance really well the skills necessary to an indestructible hero. But his life would really be tough if he were to ever go on par with one of these other aforementioned characters.

How about we just make them all team up to defend us and call it a day?

The Cost of Being Batman [Infographic]

July 30, 2012 By Vernon Gadson Leave a Comment

I don’t care how old you are, what gender you belong to, where you come from or what flavour of ice cream is your favourite (chocolate, obvs): at one point or another, you’ve dreamed about being Batman. All those cool gadgets, the Batmobile, the costume, an elderly butler waiting on you hand and foot – you’d have it all as Gotham’s caped crusader! Well, except parents. They kinda died in front of your eyes when you were 8 years old, which led to long-lasting psychological problems, which is probably why you dress up as a giant bat at night and go about beating the crap out of people. But hey, look, a utility belt!

However, after reading this new infographic from MoneySupermarket.com, which painstakingly picks apart the true cost of being Batman, your dreams may be shattered in an instant (yay!). It seems that any real-life Batman adventures would in fact consist of popping on a balaclava, stapling a beach towel to your shoulders, driving around town in a rusty rental and thwacking troublemaking teens over the head with a baseball bat (maybe that’s why they call you Batman). All I can say is this: that Bruce Wayne, he’s lucky he’s a multi-billionaire. [Read more…]

The Top 10 Superhero Movies

April 30, 2012 By Vernon Gadson Leave a Comment

In case you didn’t know (and how could you not?), superhero epic “Marvel’s The Avengers” sees its long-awaited theatrical release in American theatres this coming Friday, even though its UK release was last Thursday, when I went and saw it (if you will allow me to gloat and grin and dance merrily down the street for a moment or two). To celebrate, I thought I’d take a look at the ten finest examples to come out of the cinematic superhero genre, which I have listed below along with justifications for each entry. Some of the films are based on comics, some of them are original; some of them are straight-faced, some of them are comedies; some of them are bloody, one of them was made by Pixar. And hey, one of them might even have a certain Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Hulk in them (nudge, nudge). [Read more…]

The Evolution of the Superhero Movie

June 30, 2011 By Vernon Gadson 3 Comments

We are currently living in the age of the superhero movie, a financially-friendly genre that is at present flying its way around cinema screens on what is noticeably becoming a regular basis. With the earth-shattering advances in special effects over the past couple of decades, it’s becoming increasingly easy for super-powered vigilantes to make the transition from the pages of a comic book to being projected on the silver screen, which has resulted in a recent explosion of cinematic offerings from the superhero genre. Just this year we’ve already feasted on Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor” and Matthew Vaughn’s “X-Men: First Class,” and last Friday (June 17) we were presented with Martin Campbell’s “Green Lantern,” which shall be followed by Joe Johnston’s “Captain America: The First Avenger,” released July 22 in the US. It seems you can’t look at your local cinema listings without seeing someone in a cape or a mask or with their skin a funny colour (no racism intended). But what is the history of this genre? Where did it all begin? When did it really become popular? And what is with our current fascination with crime-fighters who have awesome, otherworldly powers?
