5 Most Famous Internet Cats

June 2, 2014 By Fred Mitchell Leave a Comment

With the risk of uttering the most uttered sentence in the history of the world: the Internet is for cats. You just need to open your Internet browser and within seconds after doing that you are bombarded with pictured and videos of cats. Cute cats, Kitler cats, small, big, cats with unique and adorable markings, grumpy cats and happy cats. Did you know that there are more pictures shared with cats that there are selfies? So it’s official, we like cats more than we like ourselves! In today’s article we’re going to take a look at 6 of the most famous internet cats; the rock stars of the Internet as they should be called.

1. Nyan Catnyan cat famous internet cats

Every Internet user must watch the video of Nyan Cat from start to finish! It’s just one of those things that need to be done. The video features an animated cartoon cat which flies through space and leaves a rainbow trail behind it. The song, though, is what makes it worth its bucks. We can’t imagine why Nyan Cat was such a huge success, but it was and still is. It averages over 35 million views a year and it gets every 7 dislikes for every 100 likes. It’s so bad, it’s good!

2. Grumpy CatGrumpy Cat famous internet cats

Possibly the most famous Internet cat, Grumpy Cat’s real name is Tardar Sauce. His photo was uploaded on Reddit by the brother of Tardar’s owner and the whole internet fell in love. Within a few months, Tard was appearing on TV and was tweeting.  The cat now has a talent agent, a clothing line and even some awards, such as Buzzfeed’s 2013 Meme of the Year.

3. Business Catbusiness cat famous internet cats

Business Cat is the most famous Internet cat with a job. He mixes office jargon with cat behavior and hilarity ensues. The top line is something a human boss would say and the bottom line is something a feline would enjoy. His name is Emilio and he is a black tabby cat who is wearing a tie. The tie was bought by his owner’s girlfriend for Christmas and the photo was uploaded on Reddit. The rest was history.

4. Happy CatHappy Cat famous internet cats

Happy cat may not be so famous not, or even all that recognizable, but if it weren’t for Happu Cat, there wouldn’t be any LOLCats and no ICanHasCheezburger website. We think that without Happy Cat the Internet wouldn’t be such a happy-friendly cat. Can you imagine such a world, because we can’t? The photo started circulating the web in 2003, when the photo of Frank, a mascot for a Russian cat food company was uploaded on Something Awful. In 2007 an unknown web user added the line “I can has cheezburger? You know what happened after.

5. Henri, Le Chat Noirhenri famous internet cats

Henri is a gorgeous tuxedo cat that is one of the biggest YouTube stars in the world. The videos were created by his owner, Willian Braden. It all started when he had to create a film noir for a class project and he thought of using his cat to do it. The videos are black and white, and in them, Henri (whose real name is Henry) bemoans his fate of being an indoor cat, explores his existential crisis and reveals his contempt for his fellow cat housemate.

6. Maru the CatMaru the Cat famous internet cats

No list of famous Internet cats would be complete without the adorably plump Mary, a male Scottish Fold cat living in Japan with his owner Mugumogu, a woman who chooses not to show her face in any of the videos. Each YouTube video of Maru has an average of 800,000 views. Maru has a deep love for boxes. Mugumogu recently adopted another cat, Hana.

We honestly can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us in terms of famous Internet cats! What is your favorite Internet cat? Drop us a line in the comment below and tell us what you think.

The Most Pointless How-To Guides on the Internet

May 4, 2014 By This Blog Rules Guest Leave a Comment

Is the internet making you stupid? Sure, there are some brilliant pieces of entertainment to be found online but there are also some incredibly silly things such as these pointless how-to guides. If you need help doing any of these activities then the world is in a pretty sorry state.

How to Take a Shower

The Most Pointless How-To Guides on the Internet

Have you always struggled with the logistics of taking a shower? Sure, you might understand the basic concept but how does the water get from the pipes onto your skin and stuff? If you have ever wondered how to take the perfect shower then the Internet is here to help you. Strangely, the wikihow instructions on it include as many as 20 steps, with Undress and Wash Your Body among the most riveting highlights.

How to Get Ready for a Night Out

The Most Pointless How-To Guides on the Internet

We’re onto really tricky stuff now. Even if Undressing and Washing Your Body isn’t too much of a challenge for you, how can anyone expect you to get ready for a night out on your own in the 21st century? There are some stunningly pointless how-to guides on this subject, which cover crucial issues such as putting on your make up and fixing your hair. Interestingly, our old friend Take a Shower is there, so you get to enjoy 2 how-to guides for price of one.

How to Hammer a Nail into Something

The Most Pointless How-To Guides on the Internet

If you’d like, you can even watch an interesting YouTube video on this subject. It is a great watch. Most of the online how-to guides on this subject wisely point out that you need to hold the end of the wooden handle type of thing on the hammer rather than the head. Is it also worth pointing out that the thin, sharp part of the nail goes into the wall instead of the round, flat bit?

How to Stop Reading Stupid Articles

The Most Pointless How-To Guides on the Internet

The fact that you have got this far into this great article proves that you have got a degree of taste and, hey, intelligence. However, in the modern world this isn’t always enough, is it? There are probably times when even someone as cool as you ends up reading stupid articles. You might start off reading something useful but after clicking on one hyperlink too many you could end up struggling through a blog post about Justin Bieber’s latest piece of belly button fluff or how Kim Kardashian wore a new skirt yesterday that made her rear end look fractionally smaller or bigger than it looked yesterday. The good news is that wikihow has a guide to avoiding stupid articles.

How to Butter Bread

The Most Pointless How-To Guides on the Internet

Have you ever had a regrettable bread buttering incident ruin your breakfast? I guess this could happen but the only sensible piece of advice I could give on the subject is to not use frozen butter. Of course, that’s why no one lets me write pointless how-to articles. Other people have managed to wring a lot more mileage out of this seemingly banal subject. Again, there is a pretty classy YouTube video if you would like to see someone actually buttering the bread in front of your eyes as proof it can really be done. The wikihow article on the matter is a bit of cop out though, as the pictures clearly show a piece of toasted bread being buttered, which we all know is easier to do than buttering non-toasted bread.

Improve Your Vocabulary: 5 New Cool Words to Make You Sound Hip (and Deep)

December 16, 2013 By Fred Mitchell Leave a Comment

While some people read a lot to improve their vocabulary and to learn new cool words, others just browse the Internet and good for them, because the Net is an inexhaustible resource of fun and education. Technology and the speed of light we live our lives at also challenge us to be in the trends and adjust our cultural background with new and new terms, concepts and meanings. Street level vocabulary and urban language conveniences were replaced by Internet wisdom and thus, our vocabulary grows every day with new words and definitions our parents are probably baffled by.

As you probably know by now, the word of the year 2013 was officially declared to be selfie, but the competition was fierce, as twerking fought for supremacy as well. Of course you can Google the information yourself (and you know this is a verb now!) or you can search for the most buzzworthy news to see what’s hip. But to make your life easier, let’s see together five new cool words to make you sound hip (and deep) so next time you’re in a conversation, you can impress the audience with your vast knowledge, or at least understand what are the others talking about.

1. Affluenza is bad for people

affluenza

It’s not like they all got the flu recently, it’s that they are – an we quote – in a state of “social disease resulting from extreme materialism and excessive consumerism: earning more money and consuming more, which can lead to overwork, debt, stress, anxiety, etc.” They might need your help to become aware of their illness.

2. Digital Detoxin’ Baby! (new cool words to educate your parents)

digital detoxing

Your parents know this term as “Let’s get away for a few days some place where is quiet and there is no phone signal!” But because we’re the cool generation, we strive to digital detox, meaning exactly this: stay away for a while from our computers, smartphones, devices, gadgets and everything tech – related, only to alleviate stress and all sorts of issues, like not having a life anymore because we’re too hooked on the latest This Blog Rules article. Not that this is not good, but if you remember that the last time you saw nature was when you got lost in the park at 4 years old, maybe you need some digital detoxing.

3. Get a pixie cut, ladies!

Pixie Cut

Because you are awesome like that and because you need to look sharp and hip and sound quite deep when you tell your girlfriends you’ve got yourself a pixie cut! That is a hairdo, actually and not something related to the pixie dust or magic tricks. There is a high chance that your girls already know this term, cause they are in the trends when it comes to style and vocabulary and new cool words are already history for them.

4. Written a Blook? What’s the next step?

blook

Some people read books, others write them. But our generation is also blogging. And then switching from the virtual paper to the real deal. So a blook is a book written by a blogger. If you see where this is going, please share it with us too, because we’re expecting a jlook to come up soon, which, following the same logic, should be a book written by a journalist. Right?

5. Cyberloaf. Yes, that’s exactly what you are!

cyberloaf

New cool words, you say? How about new cool ways to elegantly avoid working by spending time on the Internet or playing with your gadgets. It’s a form of procrastination, actually, but you’re a hip trendy person, so next time when your colleague sneaks his or her head from behind their computer screen and asks you “Cyberloafing, you too?”, you should nod mysteriously and gratify your answer with a smirk.

There are tons of other new cool words out there for you to learn and since they are quite impossible to find in the books you already own, you should spend more time on the Internet and document yourself! But no cyberloafing, you are here to develop your intelligence, as who knows what sapiophile you can meet…
