Most people find insects repulsive. Must be because they have so many legs, or because they crawl, or maybe because they look like miniature alien creatures? One of the reasons people should be afraid of them is that some insects bite and they bite hard. Some of them are so venomous that their bite can kill a human in a matter of minutes. That’s a real reason for being afraid of something, that it may kill you if it bites you. Let’s have a look at the world’s most dangerous insects. They bite, they sting and they kill.
1. The Asian Giant Hornet
One of the world’s most dangerous insects is the Asian giant hornet. This huge wasp lives in the East and Southeast parts of Asia and are responsible for the death of 42 people so far. What makes the Asian giant hornet so dangerous and deadly? Well, their venom affects the red blood cells, thus causing kidney failure and death. The Asian giant hornets are as big as a human thumb and they are attracted to sweet flavors, human sweat and even alcohol smell. If you think you can escape them by running, you’re very wrong and you risk being chased down and killed because running will make them madder and it’s best to stay calm and do not agitate yourself.
2. The Brazilian Wandering Spider
The Brazilian wandering spider, also known as “the banana spider, has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s most venomous spider. This spider usually lives in Central and Tropical South of America and it can be found sitting quietly inside cars, dark corners of houses and banana plants (hence the name). This spider’s venom is so toxic that it can paralyze its victim in a matter of minutes or it can leave the victim without oxygen, resulting in death. Some of the symptoms of this spider’s bite include breathing difficulty, loss of muscle control, intense pain and inflammation of the body. Although this is one of the world’s most dangerous insects, its venom, besides being lethal, it is now studied as a potential treatment for erectile dysfunctions.
3. The African Driver Ant
One of the most dangerous insects in the world is this little guy called the African driver ant. They are so lethal that a horde of these ants can devour a human being in about 4 hours. They first slash the flesh, and their favorite parts are the soft skin of the mouth, eyes and nostrils. After that they release formic acid inside the flesh, melting it. Then, they move straight to the internal organs. All this happens, while the victim is in agonizing pain.
4. Fire Ants
The fire ants sting and bite. And it’s very painful. The venom they inject is called histamine, a chemical that causes pain, itchiness, redness and swelling of the skin. The sting from these ants forms into a white pustule that can get infected easily. The sting itself is not lethal, unless you are allergic it.
Some of the most dangerous insects in the world are, believe it or not, the mosquitoes. These annoying creatures carry deadly diseases like malaria and other blood transmitted illnesses. The Anopheles mosquito is a malaria carrier and it’s responsible for many deaths yearly. There is still no cure against malaria so many people die from being stung by this insect.
