5 Mysterious Places that Will Make the Bermuda Triangle Seem Safe

April 11, 2014 By Fred Mitchell Leave a Comment

Everybody knows about the strange sightings and happenings from the Bermuda Triangle, but as creepy as the stories may sound, this place is not the only one teeming with supernatural and paranormal activities. Theories about this place range from plausible, to absolutely ludicrous. Some talk about alien abductions while others have reported time warps and other strange things. If these theories enthrall you, you will definitely love the following 5 Most Mysterious Places that will Make the Bermuda Triangle Seem Safe.

1. Bigelow Ranch

1 1

If animal mutilations, UFO sightings, paranormal creatures and mysterious happenings sound like your cup of tea then you should definitely consider buying your own ranch near the Bigelow one in Utah. There have been many strange occurrences documented in this place since the 50s, but without a doubt the most notable one was that of the Sherman family. In 1994 they encountered a large wolf on their pasture, so the first thing that they thought of was to pet it, since it seemed tame. Although it was gentle with them, it apparently grabbed a calf through the bars of its enclosure, and when they tried to shoot it, nothing happened. In the end it left, and although Terry Sherman tried to track it, its tracks stopped all of a sudden, as if it disappeared. The family also reported UFO sightings, and intelligent floating orbs. In the end they sold the ranch to Robert Bigelow, the founder of the National Institute of Discovery Science.

2. The Bridgewater Triangle

2 1

The first Triangle on our list, is the Bridgewater one. It is literally like an all-you-can-eat buffet of the supernatural. Since 1970 numerous people have documented sightings of tall, hairy, ape-like creatures, Thunderbirds, and even giant Pterodactyl-like creatures. Six years later, a man reported the existence of a red-eyed dog that ripped the heads of his two ponies. But it doesn’t stop here! Physical evidence under the form of mutilations point to the practice of satanic cults in the area. Inexplicable objects in the sky have also been seen, including a sphere of fire which hovered over New England.

3. Point Pleasant

3 1

3 2

Point Pleasant is not as pleasant as it may sound. Since 1966 it has been shrouded in tales of mystery and strange events. Besides the “usual” UFO sightings and reports of “Men in Black” it is also the place where the Mothman hangs out. We don’t know if it is an alien, cryptid or just a mutant creature, but hundreds of citizens have reported a 7-foot tall broad chested man with glowing red eyes and wings that stretch 10 feet long (and drag behind him on the ground). The Monthman has appeared in movies, books and stories, and although there have been many scientific theories that tried to explain him, it was to no avail. Sightings ceased on December 15, 1967 when the Silver Bridged collapsed and took 46 people with it.

4. Bennington Triangle

4 1

By now you probably already know that you should stay away from triangles. The Beinnington one has seen its fair share of disappearances, UFO sightings and other strange occurrences. During 1945-1950 five people disappeared in this area, and there was no connection between them, except the geographical one. Only one body was found, the last one, after more than 6 months of searches, but it was so mangled and destroyed that forensics could not determine the cause of death. People from the area believe in things like aliens, Bigfoot monsters, or serial killers that walk the woods. Whatever it may be, one thing is clear, you should stay as far away from triangles as possible.

5. The Devil’s Sea

5 1

5 2

Another scary place, with an equally scary name is the Devil’s Sea (or the Dragon’s Triangle, you can call it whichever way sounds more ominous) can be found in the Pacific Ocean, near the coast of Japan. This place is home to unexplained phenomena such as magnetic anomalies, lights, and disappearances. In 1952, Japanese authorities send a vessel with 31 people to investigate the place. They were never seen or heard of again. People believe that the Devil’s Sea is home to gates to parallel universes (even to the Atlantis).

Around the World in Five Strange News

December 17, 2013 By Fred Mitchell Leave a Comment

Don’t you just love it when you browse your news feed with that face that says “bring it on, nothing surprises me anymore” while you display a condescending smile and twerk your shoulder just barely visible, muttering a “meh” sound from time to time with your eye balls glued to the screen wanting, needing something, anything, to get you out of your boredom? And don’t you just love it when sometimes you find a little piece of news that suddenly captures your interest enough to consider to move the mouse an inch to the side and click on the link promising finally some entertainment?

I personally am such arrogant creature who avoids at all cost tabloid titles that promise me never ending shocks while my life is about to change dramatically, while I keep a reserved smirk for other strange news around the world, just because I am willing to be surprised. I expect some rocks thrown at me soon enough, because my choice of strange news might not match other people’s tastes in the “surprising” department. But I am willing to take my chances. So here are five strange news from  around the world that actually made me click the link.

1. Where are all the good men gone? To Vatican, apparently

hot priest

Now admit it, seeing hot priests in a calendar that is sold for 10 Euros in Rome, displaying some male figures women would wish they didn’t swear a chastity oath is quite intriguing. The “Roman Priest Calendar” is the art work of photographer Piero Pazzi who selected his priest models based on their looks, but aims to educate people about Vatican with this project. So: Vatican. Hot Priests. Educated enough?

2. The fake call of the Cthulhu

vietnamese monster

This one made my day, and I guess made everybody on the Internet day. The Vietnamese lived a few thrilling days with their “subterranean monster” which was marketed as a giant worm, an alien monster or at least some prehistoric creature set out to torment innocent people’s lives. Good thing they found out it was just a dead whale…

3. From Dracula to Ghostly Walkers: Romania, again in the strange news from around the world

dracula

When Emily Matchar with “The Atlantic” started her journey to find some of the most interesting and intriguing supernatural manifestations around the world I expected to find Romania somewhere there on the list, because if you’re a freak like me, you’re interested in everything that has a connection to myths, folklore and the supernatural in Eastern European countries. But Dracula is so overrated these days, so there are few things to surprise me anymore. But fret no more, cause Drac’s home land made it again in the news, as Emily took a closer look to their ghosts and ghouls. It is still debatable the information regarding burring a corpse with a bottle of whiskey next to it to prevent it from waking up as a blood hungry zombie.

4. 441 bottles of beer… oh, wait… 441 new species discovered in the Amazonian jungle

purring monkey

I love science and weird news, so when World Wildlife Fund tells you they just discovered a vegetarian Piranha fish, a frog the size of your finger nail or a monkey that purrs like a cat, you click the link, cause boy, is this world full of mysteries, or what? You might tell me this is no valid piece of news, and I will tell you that if by news you mean the latest trick the Kardashians pulled on the Internet…

5. Suck it up, Jaws!

shark

If you didn’t figure it out by now, I’ll say it again: I am not a big fan of shocking news or pieces of information that travel the Internet at speeds that would shame even Superman. I am merely pointing a few ones that actually sounded interesting enough to take me out of my usual superiority attitude. So an American boxer punched a live shark and got away alive, according to Mirror Online. Why was this interesting? Cause how cool is it to surf, meet the shark, punch it in the face, jump the surfboard again, be followed by the shark and live to tell the story?

There were a few other strange news from around the world that managed to become viral and so popular, everybody shared them in the true Internet fashion (disfiguring the truth until unrecognizable, that is), but this was my personal selection. Punches in the face welcome. And for the record, I didn’t fall for the one with the snake swallowing a drunken man whole.

Meet Venus, the Amazing Chimera Cat

August 20, 2012 By Vernon Gadson 1 Comment

No, dear reader, the image above has not been photoshopped. This is Venus, an adorable kitten with more than a passing resemblance to a certain two-faced Batman villain. Venus’ furry face, as you can see, is distinctively split into two halves: the left is covered in black fur and features a yellow eye, while the right is covered in ginger fur and features a blue eye. Widely thought to be a chimera (google it), she looks like two completely different cats spliced into one.

“She’s as sweet as can be…. gentle, loving, and has this little tiny kitten like “meow” even though she is 3 now,” says her currently nameless owner. “She acts like a big baby in the way that she loves to be babied. She doesn’t bother any furniture with her claws and uses a scratching post. She does not have one single bad habit. She’s perfect!”

Venus was adopted from a North Carolina dairy farm in 2009. Images of her curious appearance, taken by “mommy,” have just recently gone viral. She has her own official Facebook page, which has now garnered over 5,000 likes, and has been named the “coolest cat ever” over on Reddit, understandably so. [Read more…]
